Kent & Kay DavisonWest Branch, MI The West Branch Regional Medical Center and Tolfree Foundation will forever have a special place within our hearts. When, our 19 year old grandson, Scott Kimball, was 6 months old, he was hospitalized at Tolfree Memorial Hospital with a sudden onset of Viral Croup. The same kind of Croup that killed many children in the late 1800’s-1920’s.
It was after Scott’s illness that Kent became interested in getting more involved in the healthcare of those in our community. His journey began with joining the WBRMC Board of Directors. Dr. Lloyd Wiegerink was the driving force behind the creation of the Tolfree Foundation, when he became ill Kent was honored to step in for him, and joined the Tolfree Foundation Board of Directors. Kent takes his Board of Director positions very seriously and remains on both boards to this day. I joined the WBRMC (Gala Committee) in 1998 and (chaired the committee) throughout the planning stages right up to the opening of the West Branch Regional Medical Center. Today, I’m on the Tolfree Foundation Gala Committee and continue to plan various fundraising activities to assist in raising funds to support continued growth at our area hospital. We are proud to say that Scott is now a healthy, happy, college football player at Grand Valley University. We’re both fortunate, and blessed, to have a large medical center in our small rural community that offers outstanding medical care. We will continue to serve our community through our involvement with both the hospital and Tolfree Hospital because of what the employees at Tolfree Hospital did years ago for our grandson. |

Dr. Gil Mosher, and Mike Raymond, anestisist, had to intubate Scott when his lung collapsed. We were told he probably would not survive the night. Medical professionals at our hospital prepared Scott to be airlifted to Hurley Medical Center in Flint. Upon arrival to the Hurley Emergency Room, the medical staff said our grandsons life was saved by the highly skilled care he received...at OUR LOCAL hospital!
