Our StaffHello, This past April I had the pleasure of joining the foundation staff as the new director. It certainly has been a pleasure getting to know staff, volunteers and the Board of Directors. It didn’t take long to learn the Foundation office is a buzzing hub of activity. Bev, along with the amazing group of volunteers, welcomed me into a busy year of planning activities and events. Along with all of our established events we’ve shaken things up a bit and added many popular new events. The seasonal flower sales have been wildly successful and will be added as annual events in 2009. Also new, was our “Girls Day Out” where we showcased three businesses in downtown West Branch…The Silver Lining, Edith M’s and Java Junction. Look for them to be back next year for Mothers Day! Also new is this website. Wow, do I ever have a whole new respect for those folks that take the information provided to create a website (which was my part)…and with three taps and one wave of their magic wand…turn out an amazing looking product. A special thank you to Marj Esch from eDot Design and Doug Danitz from our very own IT department on creating this website. You both rock! And…with that said, welcome! The site is still in the early development phase so check back often for new information. I’m always interested to know what you think; so e-mail me your thoughts and ideas on what you would like to see incorporated here. And last but certainly not least – as we close out the year, I ask you to take a minute to think about what you have done this year. Have you accomplished your resolutions? Did you make a difference in someone’s life? If so, congratulations. Isn’t that really what life is about; doing and helping others? Doesn’t take money, or possessions…just time. And who can’t spare a bit of time to help someone in need or contribute to a cause you believe in? There are many worthy organizations, like the Tolfree Foundation, that rely on volunteers to meet their mission. Do some research, pick up the phone, and find one that works for you.
